Office interior – the new business model

The working environment changes dynamically. This is the basis for new rules and trends in today’s office spaces.

The development of business strategies and the companies’ priorities call for a different approach in office design. There are new challenges due to the increasing demand for functionalities, comfort and flexibility.

These topics inspired our partners from the Bulgarian Association of Interior Designers (BAID) to organize a forum, also high on the agenda was the new business model in office interiors. Kronospan Design Center – Sofia was honored to host the event, which garnered great interest for professionals from different industries.

The themes discussed included:

What is happening to the office spaces in Bulgaria?
How do the offices look like in a constantly changing business environment?
How does the interior design respond to the investors’ new needs, and what are the benefits?

Viktoria Karabova was the forum chair. She is a founder and chairman of the Council of Entrepreneurship and Startup, an executive director of the International Academy of Excellence "Sir Isaac Newton" and also participates in the management of NBP Publishing Consortium. Her focus is the support, training and encouragement of the youth.

Silviya Vasileva – a certified life and business coach and founder of “Life Projects”, started the meeting. She talked about the successful communication in the contemporary ambience of office spaces, based on the employees’ expectations. People enjoy the comfort of their homes, which reflects their working behavior and interaction. The business relations become informal and the environment increases its standards for hygiene and flexibility.

Arch. Tsvetomyr Pavlov – a co-founder of the architectural studio Cachè Atelier, discussed his experience with global companies from their headquarters in Sofia. As an office designer, he noted his clients’ preferences - open-plan offices with sufficient space for employees to rest. The main priorities in his work are comfort, good acoustics and lighting, and natural landscaping.

Arch. Stanimir Yordanov from VIArchitects presented the evolution of office spaces over time and modern trends for a multifunctional transformable environment. His inspiration in creating bigger spaces is the belief that the surrounding environment is a leading factor in people’s emotional and mental well-being.

Besides the re-design of the corporate identity, comfort and functionality, his main motivation is to create projects that provoke people's creative and social skills.

Georgi Milev – manager of Art On, an office-furnishing consultant in Kammarton Bulgaria, presented the most popular furniture in the company’s portfolio. He visualized their implementation in several projects from Bulgaria and Europe. In addition to their high quality and beautiful designs, he emphasized the opportunity of adaptation to the functionality in any office.

Tanya Koseva-Boshova – a managing partner of Park Lane Developments, also shared her 20 years’ experience of the business property market in Bulgaria and South-east Europe. She is a founder and a chairman of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Association of Business Building Owners (BABBO) and member of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF)

The hosts were presented by arch. Blagovesta Dimencheva – chief designer in Kronospan Design Center – Sofia. Her example of a modern office interior was the Lira Service Campus in Germany. The space is designed in line with the activity based working concept. Employees do not have a fixed workplace; they are encouraged to regroup according to the team project, and paperless work is a must.

There is a digital check-in at the reception for visitors. The whole interior is built with Kronospan materials: the reception and the suspended ceiling are made of OSB, compact interior panels are used in the kitchen, the washrooms and countertops, and the floor is covered with the new generation SPC flooring Rocko.

The modern working environment should provide comfort and optimization in order to encourage personnel to improve its efficiency and creativity. The new model of shared spaces and the redefined conditions give employees control over how, where and when to work. This leads to increased satisfaction, productivity and successful collaborations between them. In the future, offices will continue to develop toward socialization and will smarten up the working functionalities.
